Introducing Total Recall, the brainchild of Liam Levanon, creator of the best-selling effects Inverto and Ishihara Test.
Liam first showed us Total Recall at the prestigious Blackpool convention in 2023, this masterpiece captured our hearts instantly. The brilliance behind Total Recall lies in its simplicity and the way it places your spectator in the spotlight.
Here’s how it looks:
You begin by explaining the concept of Total Recall – the rare ability to vividly remember and accurately describe what one has seen. A deck of cards is taken out of its box and displayed in front of your spectator. They are instructed to absorb as much information as possible. Then, you pose three straightforward questions:
Question: Did anything catch your attention?
Response: Yes, one card is turned face down.
Question: Did you notice fewer picture cards or number cards?
Response: picture cards.
Question: OK, so less picture cards? If you had to name one picture card you’re certain you didn’t see, which one would it be?
Response: The Jack of Spades (this is a totally free choice)
As you go through the deck once more, your spectator witnesses all the cards passing by, including picture cards, until you reach the face-down card. As expected, it’s the card they named. Both the front and back of the deck can be shown openly.
The impact of Total Recall is undeniable, leaving spectators awestruck and convinced of their newfound ability.
This effect is not only powerful but also incredibly easy to perform. It includes a clever custom deck and comprehensive instructional video, ensuring you can master it effortlessly.
