A routine that can be played both seriously and with comedy!
We give you some ideas about possible routines:
- You show four cups, each on a wooden disk, and tell them that something is hidden under one of the cups that you would rather not hit, but you won’t reveal where it is. You turn your back to the audience and a spectator can swap the discs and cups as much as he wants. You turn back and concentrate and, one by one, smash three of the cups flat and take them away to show that there is nothing under the cup. You then lift the remaining cup and there is a real EGG there that you can possibly break into a glass.
- You show four disks, place a real egg on one of the disks, and ask a spectator to place a cup on each of the disks and shuffle everything together without you looking. You turn back and concentrate and smash three of the cups one by one and keep taking away the flattened cups to show that there is nothing under the cup. You then lift the remaining cup and there lies/stands the real EGG which you can possibly break into a glass.
- A comic version where you need a partner: you show four disks, place a real egg on one of the disks (for example on the second disk) and tell them that you are going to reveal a secret. You place a cup on each disc and tell them that you are going to perform an act in which you are going to smash three cups, but that you do not want to hit the egg. How are you doing this? Beforehand, place a mark on the top of the cup containing the egg so that the audience cannot see this. You look for a marker to make the mark but can’t find it so you walk to your suitcase/bag to get it. At that moment, your partner/assistant moves two discs and switches places so the egg ios now in another position – but you don’t know that. You return and mark the cup you think the egg was placed under (but it is moved by your partner). Then a spectator is allowed to mix everything up and you smash three cups one by one, they are all empty. You then lift the remaining cup and there lies/stands the real EGG which you can possibly break into a glass. Your audience will be surprised how this could have ended well.
Additional ideas/tips:
- Perform the act blindfolded with our SEE THRU BLINDFOLD for an even stronger effect/
- Place a screen in front of the cups when you mix the cups so that your audience no longer knows where the egg is.
Important:
- To the spectators, all four cups on discs look the same.
- The cups are not marked or special, you cannot see through them.
- No electronics
- Completely safe as you don’t use a knife or nail.
- The cups are empty after being smashed
You will receive the four discs, a wooden egg (for practice or use when you don’t want to use a real egg), four cups to get you started and access to an online instructional video.
