Houdini Cube by Anthony Yap (5269)

A fun and easy to perform block penetration. 3 items are presented to the audience and can be examined, an empty tube, a solid block, and a solid plate that slots into the tube. The block is placed into the tube and shown to move freely in and out of the tube. The block is then locked and trapped into the bottom of the tube using the solid plate. There’s no where for the block to go as the tube is tipped upside down with the block trapped inside it. The magician explains how this is just like Houdini being trapped in one of his impossible escapes. However with a little magic the magician taps the tube down and the block falls freely from the tube seemingly having penetrated right through the solid plate. Designed in an industrial steampunk style, this piece conjures up stories of the old props and escapes Houdini once built.
