Effect:
The magician begins by showing the audience a famous painting – The Pearl Girl.
The magician then talks about how human memory can become fuzzy over time. To demonstrate this, he asks a spectator to carefully observe the painting on their smartphone as he takes a photo.
Next, the magician holds up four cards face down and mixes them up. He asks the spectator to select one card, without revealing it to the audience yet. When the card is turned over, it appears to match the magician’s mysterious prediction!
However, the spectator claims they don’t remember the magician’s prediction matching their card. Perplexed murmurs arise from the audience.
That’s when the magician reveals why – before the flash went off, the card showed the painting of “The Pearl Girl”, but after the flash, the image had changed to the Mona Lisa!
As the magician noted before, our memories can be uncertain at times. But when the spectator checks their phone photo again, there is no uncertainty – it perfectly matches both the magician’s original painting and the card the spectator selected! The audience gasps in astonishment at the magical transformation captured in the photo.
